The Psychological Service has an Improvement Plan to ensure that the organisation develops in accord with changing demands and knowledge. The content of the plan is the result of consultation within and outwith the service. Priorities with specific targets are monitored and reviewed annually in conjunction with the directorate. The service improvement plan is revised annually, and takes account of the planning cycle with Education and Youth Employment. The Psychological Service Improvement Plan links directly to the Education and Youth Employment Directorate 5 Key priorities and the 5 council strategic priorities, and the North Ayrshire Children’s Services Plan.

In May 2016 the Service underwent a Validated Self Evaluation week alongside our partners in Education Scotland. This was a very informative and positive experience. The final report from  can be viewed from the Education Scotland website.

The inspection of North Ayrshire Council included the evaluation of the quality of educational psychology provision on behalf of stakeholders. The evaluation of EPS are conducted within a framework of quality indicators which embody the Government’s policy on Best Value.

The psychological service was part of the Inspection of Local Authorities, How well is North Ayrshire improving learning, raising attainment and closing the poverty related attainment gap (July 2018). The final document can be downloaded here (pdf, 571Kb).
