Improvement Work, Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PAThs)
Promoting the social and emotional intelligence of children is currently a hot topic in educational settings. The four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence emphasise the importance of pupils developing a full range of skills and abilities relevant to growing, living and working in today’s society.
Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS) is an evidence based programme which takes teachers and pupils through a structured set of lessons designed to promote the development of emotional awareness, self-esteem, self-control and inter-personal problem solving skills.
The Educational Psychology Service has rolled out the PAThS curriculum in a large number of establishments throughout North Ayrshire.
